Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ghana Celebrates - Independence. DESCRIPTION: Excitement in Accra, Capital of the Gold Coast reached its first climax with the preparations for welcoming the Duchess of Kent, who was received at the Airport by the Governor, Sir Charles Arden Clarke and Dr Nkrumah, the Premier. A few days after her arrival the Gold Coast was to become Ghana, an Independent State with the Commonwealth. SHOTLIST: MS crowds. CU natives playing drums. MS Ghana flag with Union Jack. Duchess of Kent alights from plane. Welcomed by Sir Charles Arden Clarke. Dr Nkrumah welcomes Duchess. Duchess shaking hands with chiefs. Duchess walks down red carpet with officials.
