Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Operation ‘Buffalo’. DESCRIPTION: Maralinga Test Range in the stark-wide open spaces of South Australia. Operation Buffalo involved setting up a village for servicemen taking part. And the team of scientists was headed by Sir William Penney who went to supervise and observe the atomic explosions. Native cooking. Servicemen in canteen. Guns firing. Tanks. Bulldozer. Mock fighting. Army photographer. Vulcan bomber takes off. Various shots of guns and tanks to be used for testing atomic rays. A-Bomb explodes. Good mushroom shots. Jet plane takes off. Scientist in protective clothing walk round the contaminated area.
