MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Macmillan Takes Over. DESCRIPTION: Large crowds waited in Downing Street and outside the Palace for the announcement of Sir Anthony Eden’s successor as Prime Minister. The Marquess of Salisbury was summoned to the Palace to tender his advice and next Sir Winston Churchill. Then, the crowds at the Palace saw Harold Macmillan drive in and, it seemed certain that he had been chosen. The announcement was quickly made.
