MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Vulcan Crash. DESCRIPTION: It was the first Vulcan to fly to Australia and, on its journey out, the big Delta Jet bomber had set several records. On its 26,000 mile tour of Australia and New Zealand, the Vulcan made its impressive arrival at Richmond Air Station on Air Force Day. Then at the very moment of arrival home, disaster. Immediately after the crash and the explosion, police put a cordon round the area as flame and smoke enveloped the ill fated aircraft. It was soon reported that Air Marshal Sir Harry Broadhurst and the Vulcan’s Captain, Squadron Leader Howard had escaped. SHOTLIST: Library Material - Vulcan in Australia. Marchpast in Australia.
