Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Veteran Cars Transport the Guards to Hastings. DESCRIPTION: Veteran cars took part in a rally to Hastings carrying a Battalion of Guardsmen - it recalled a similar event in 1909 organised by the Automobile Association to prove to the War Office the value of the horseless carriage. SHOTLIST: CU of the front of an old car showing the driver speaking to one of the officials before the start. A repeat of the KS and camera panning to the shuddering bonnet top. The old brass oil lamp also shaking and a CU of the front wheels and suspensions. Some guards on route, of various veterans. CU Old Bill the veteran bus. Then the White Steamer the only steam driven car in the race. The cars then drive down the prom and the Mayor takes the salute. Final CU of a guard pushing one of the cars.
