Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Everest Heroes at Garden Party. DESCRIPTION: In conjunction with the Queen’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty held an investiture, at which Colonel Sir John Hunt and Sir Edmund Hillary received their Knighthoods. Sherpa Tensing received his George Medal and the other members of the Expedition received Coronation medals from Her Majesty. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV palace. Small crowds outside. Car drives in containing Hunt & Hillary. Tensing with family walks into forecourt, with Major Wylie & wife. Elevated GV garden party in progress, umbrellas up owning to rain. Various shots shows Queen & Duke both holding umbrellas up as they chat (silent) to guests.
