Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Budget - Mr Butler’s. DESCRIPTION: The Chancellor, about to leave his home for the House, was persuaded to say a few non-committal words. Mr Butler was rather hemmed in by the crowd and there seemed to be little disagreement between Press and Police! In the House of Commons the secrets were revealed and Mr Butler has the last word. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU Pound notes being thrown on the table. Crowds outside No 3, Smith Square, mostly cameramen. Mr Butler emerges, holds up budget bag. Says a few words on the forthcoming budget. Policemen pushing cameramen out of the way, policeman nearly loses hat. Trucking shot along Oxford Street, looking through the glass of car showrooms. Interior - radio sets, television sets, washing machines, refrigerators, etc. Line of taxis. CU of coins, mostly shillings - full screen. Butler at his home, 3 Smith’s Square, speaking on the Budget.
