- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Fire at Goodwood Motor Racing. DESCRIPTION: In the nine-hour endurance race at Goodwood, Movietone had a radio-controlled camera installed in Maurice Faulkner’s Aston Martin. Organised by the News of the World, it was the first after-dark event held in Britain. Reg Parnell’s Aston Martin was set ablaze while refuelling in the pits and although the flames were controlled, the race was over for Parnell. It was, however, an Aston Martin that won - driven by Peter Collins and PNC Griffith. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV grandstand. Camera placed in motor racing car. Cars at start. Shots taken by the radio controlled camera from inside car as it speeds round course. Rain pours down. Jaguars to the fore. Aston Martin (Reg Parnell’s car) into pits, refuelling & same goes up in flames. Shots of the flames as cameraman backs away from fire. Dusk & after-dark racing shows headlights of cars rounding bends etc. Aston Martin wins the race, passing chequered flag. Receives cheque & laurels, the drivers Peter Collins & PNC Griffiths.
