Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Goodwood Opens. DESCRIPTION: The first day’s racing at Goodwood wasn’t blessed with quite the weather people had hoped for, thousands of holiday-makers were there to have a go. There was a field of eighteen to choose from in the Stewards’ Cup, Smokey Eyes ridden by Charlie Smirke was brought along on a late but judged run to win by a length from Vatellus with Wild Boy third. SHOTLIST: Cut story - GV race-course, crowds etc. Paddock scenes, horses being mounted. Start of Stewards Cup. Various shots during the race, Smoky Eyes wins from Vatellus & Wild Boy.
