- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Grand Prix & Formula Libre RAC Trophy. Brm’s in Trouble at Silverstone. DESCRIPTION: Large crowds were at Silverstone for the 250 mile Grand Prix which was a runaway victory for Ascari in a Ferrari. In the Formula Libre Trophy Race, two BRMs were entered. One was driven by Gonzalez and the other by Wharton. Wharton’s car was taken over by Gonzalez when his own had failed, but it was in vain, for Taruffi won in a special Ferrari. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Cars racing. Crowds. Cars racing in the Grand Prix. Panning shot of cars speeding. Ascari driving a Ferrari No 15 at speed. Cut-in Clark Gable watching. Start of the Formula Libre Race, BRMs competing. Various shots of the race, BRM speeding No 7. Raymond Mays watches. No 8 the other BRM driven by Ken Wharton. Gonzalez drives into pits, gets out of BRM gesticulates to Mays, Wharton comes in & Gonzalez takes over. Starts off again, several shots of the race, Taruffi driving a Thinwall Special wins, Laurels put round neck. CU winner.
