Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: A Wet Whitsun Week-End. DESCRIPTION: Scenes during the holiday from Battersea Pleasure Gardens, Goodwood Motor Racing, Local horse race at Horsham, the National Caravan Rally at Overstone Park, G Class reservists at Cardington, the Rover Scout Moot near Reading and scenes at Southend. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV roundabout at Fun-Fair. Several shots of Battersea Park, pouring of rain. Goodwood - dry, motor racing, several shots. Slip-pan to Horsham, local Derby, horses being mounted, racing, bookies, crowds etc. CU winner. At Overstone Park. GV of caravans at rally. Cardington, arrival of G reservists, marching into camp. Shots of them drilling. Issued with kit, etc. Near Dorking, Rover Moot, shots of bonfires burning, thousands of Rovers singing Underneath the Spreading Chestnut Tree. Southend, various shots of front, also kids eating ices, toffee-apples, people eating shell fish. GV pier, lifeboat launched, bringing in a yacht. Shots of people on pier in rain, huddled under deck-chairs, etc.
