MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Korea Vc - Pte. Speakman Welcomed Home. DESCRIPTION: The Mayor of Altrincham went to Lyneham, Wiltshire, to welcome Private Bill Speakman, VC and to drive him to his home town in Cheshire. There, the town had turned out in full force to pay him honour and they certainly made their feelings plain, as he drove to the Town Hall, where he met his family before making a public speech from the Balcony. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Plane taxies to standstill. CU Speakman alights (poses on steps) from plane. Shakes hands (left handed) with Councillor Warren, Mayor of Altrincham. Drive through the crowded streets of Altrincham, arrival at Town Hall. On balcony of Town Hall, Mayor addresses crowd followed by Speakman, crowds sing For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow. (Cut-ins group shots of Speakman family, also Speakman admiring William Thomas’s VC).
