Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Oil From Iraq. DESCRIPTION: The Iraqi town of Basra, North of the Persian Gulf, dates from the 7th century, though it seems that little progress has been made there since ancient times; progress needs money but that should soon be forthcoming from the expansion of the near-by oil field at Zuhair. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. MS oil derrick. Various shots of the life in the streets, markets of Basra. SCU sheikh-types smoking. Various shots of the oilfields, shots of Americans & Iraqis working at derrick. Various shots of the pipelines, etc. Elevated MS crowds walk across to ceremony platform. Premier Nuri Pasha Es Said declares oilfields (silent) open. CU of him turning wheel. Pipelines across the desert. Elevated GV taking out a drill, various shots from above & the ground. Finish on elevated GV shadow of oil derrick across desert towards the town.
