MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Big Headlines in the Home News. DESCRIPTION: With the news of the coming General Election, the Prime Minister, having named the day, fires a first shot as he leaves 10, Downing Street to go North. Mr Churchill, returned from holiday, is also ready for the fray. The other big headline also concerns us very personally . for everyone feels a particular concern in the health of that gallant gentleman, The King. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Cameramen & newspapers. Workmen & types reading headlines election It is October 25th etc. CU No 10. Attlee comes out with Mrs Attlee. Crowds outside. Attlee speaking into mikes, refers to going backwards with the Conservatives or going forward with Labour. Mr Churchill at his home in Chartwell, Westerham, walks out into grounds with his poodle. CU Mr Churchill. Several shots of the Conservative Conference - 1950. Fade King arrives at Northolt from Scotland, walks across aerodrome to car, shakes hands. Several shots of Buckingham Palace, also CU of the main gates & crown, very good. Mr Attlee Names Election Date. Good Scenes - Crowds in Downing Street. Mr & Mrs Attlee walk out of No 10. CU of both waving to crowds. Enter car & Mrs Attlee drives away. Press & cameramen taking photos.
