Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Freedoms for Mr Winston Churchill. DESCRIPTION: Mr Churchill, who has received many freedoms, recently brought off a double, so to speak - two in one day. The first was at Deal and the second at Dover, where he received a 19-gun salute. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV crowds walk around with cliffs in background. MS Churchill & with son-in-law Captain Soames standing behind him. Walking through cheering crowded streets of Deal. GV of beach. GV guns being fired at Dover, harbour in background. Churchill with Mayor, Alderman Fish enter Town Hall, Dover. Interior - SCU Mayor standing. Mayor presents casket to Churchill, who takes scroll out & reads same. SCU Churchill addressing the audience. He refers to this tragic century also his being a warmonger. Christopher Soames is seated on Churchill’s right during speech.
