- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Overseas News - Canberra Bomber, Naval Rocket & Hiroshima Anniversary. DESCRIPTION: Australia’s first Canberra bomber, piloted by Wing-Commander Cumming of the RAAF was met at Canberra by Mr Menzies, the PremierAt New Mexico, the American-made Viking Rocket broke the altitude record for single-stage rockets at 135 miles with a top speed of 4,100 miles an hour. In Hiroshima, the anniversary of the dropping of the Atom Bomb was marked by religious ceremonies; prayers for those who died, and a thanksgiving service for the survivors. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS.
