Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Channel Swimming Season Opens. DESCRIPTION: 22-year-old Egyptian student, Abou Heif, has swum the channel in 15 hours 43 minutes. He arrived on the beach at Dover only twelve minutes before Phil Rising of Rotherham. At Folkestone a score of competitors prepare for the Daily Mail cross-channel race on the 13th of August. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. SCU person swimming. MS Abou Heif - Egyptian swimming channel. Small boy jumps in from boat & swims alongside him. Heif comes ashore at beach near Dover. Heif staggers up beach & falls on rocks. MS Phil Rising, approaching beach, landing at same spot, staggers out of water, falls. CU being kissed by his wife. At Folkestone. Channel swimmers in line march round bath. CU - back view Rehim in dressing gown, his name on back of same. Rehim draws his number. Miss Fenton draws her number. Ned Barnie dives into water. MS other swimmers on side of bath. MS line of them marching along side of bath.
