MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ascot’s Gold Cup. DESCRIPTION: Gold Cup Day at Ascot - and many thousands of people admiring the dignity of the Royal drive. In the race itself, ‘Colonist II really looked like winning a great victory for Mr Churchill, when ‘Pan II’ came with an irresistible burst of speed to win. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Title with black background. Optical shot Royal Enclosure of Ascot. Elevated GV royal procession. MS of masses of toppers in the stands. SCU & CU of women in their various hat styles & dresses. Orientals in long robes. Royal party, Queen, Princess Elizabeth, PM & Duchess of Kent, on way to paddock. Churchill in morning dress makes his way through crowd assisted by police. Churchill in paddock. Horses at start. Cut-in Churchill on roof looks through field glasses. The off, Harlech takes the lead. On the swing. Colonist II in front, round bend, still leading, coming up the straight, Pan II takes leads & wins. Cut-in Royal Box, shows P Elizabeth getting excited. Finish of race to finish story.
