MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rugby - Wales Swamp England. DESCRIPTION: There were over fifty thousand at Swansea for the Rugger International. England were up against a Welsh team that was certainly expected to win, and win they did - by 23 points to five. SHOTLIST: Cut story (Long version) - KS. MS of general play. Crowds at stadium, barbed wire in front of crowds. GVs crowds singing Land of My Fathers. Elevated GV England kick-off. MS Line-out. Two scrums & a scramble. Wales break through & nearly score try. England just stopping them (2 similar scenes). GV Matthews runs through & touches down near posts. Crowds cheering. Lewis Jones - MS converts. England attack. MS Wales break through & score try by Malcolm Thomas. Crowds cheering. Matthews scores another try. England scores try, Rittson-Thomas fighting all the way. Hewitt converts. Ken Jones scores try for Wales. MS mid-field play, then Wales (Malcolm Thomas) break away & make long run down field to score try, running behind posts, pursuit by English. MS Thomas lying on ground exhausted. Crowds cheering.
