Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Silverstone Disappointment. DESCRIPTION: From the air we see the vast crowd which gathered at Silverstone Motor Racing. To the disappointment of many thousands who attended, the BRM failed to start in the International Trophy Race. The Duke of Edinburgh was a keen spectator. J Claes crashed at Abbey Curve, but fortunately without injury. In pouring rain the cars sped round the treacherous course. For the final, however, conditions had improved and the Alfa Romeo No 1 driven by G Farina claimed the laurels by being the first to complete the 35 laps. SHOTLIST: KS. CU wheel revolving. Aerial shots of cars parked & course. BRM unloaded from plane. BRM speeding round track to qualify. Duke of Edinburgh watching same. Several shots of BRM at speed. BRM in pits. SCU Raymond Mays at the wheel. BRM being tuned up. BRM at start but fails to go more than a yard. Various shots of cars speeding round the track. J Claes in a Talbot crashes, without injury. Cars racing, rain pouring down. Start of the final. Various shots of cars speeding, various angles, panning etc. Alfa Romeo driven by G Farina (No 1) tears up the course. Farina wins. Laurels round his neck.
