- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Covent Garden Tragic Fire. DESCRIPTION: The fire at Covent Garden was certainly a very serious affair. Smouldering fruit boxes and other stock continued to burn for days beneath the famous market. The fumes, by which many firemen were temporarily overcome, was responsible for the death of one of them. SHOTLIST: KS. Elevated GV crowds watching firemen in action. Various shots of firemen fighting the fire, taking reliefs, drinking tea. Smoke pouring from basement of building, various shots. Several shots of smoke simply pouring from building. Fire tenders, hoses all around.
