- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Best Time of the Year. DESCRIPTION: Library material consisting of four seasons of the year, proving that winter is the best because Christmas intervenes. SHOTLIST: KS Spring - GV country lake with copse of silver birch in fore. Still of Fisher’s front garden, Mrs Fisher by door, cine shot - Doreen Fisher walks towards gate & camera. CU white bloom on tree. SCU daffodils in full bloom. Several shots lambs feeding, hopping about etc. girls in open air, ballet dancing (physical jerks). Goats playing (reverse projection). Girls doing jerks again. More goats shots. Summer - GV large lake. Yachts under way at sea. People bask on beach in sun. SCU one terrifically sunburnt. Crowds on beaches, girls walk through towards sea. Pan of girl walking out of sea. People & children eating ices. Prosser baby in pail of water. Surfing in Australia. Dog stranded on small rock surrounded by water. Dog makes a plunge for it & swims ashore. Autumn - LS unknown church. MS ditto. GV of still waters. GV countryside in autumn. Tilt up trees void of leaves. GV ditto. Leaves blow about the ground. person’s feet walk through same. Winter - GV of English church covered in snow. GV activity on a heath covered in snow. Skiing - sledging - tobogganing, child falls on ice. People having snowball fights. MS snowman with pipe in his mouth. Outside house, children sing carols. Interior - Jack Cotter with child decorates room. Child in bed sitting up, she lies down & pretends to sleep. Superimposed - Father Christmas on sleigh travels over roofs of houses. CU Father Christmas. Various angle shots Punch & Judy show, cut-ins (very good) reactions of child audience. Several SCU of childrens’ reactions, crying laughing, serious etc. CU night time - Christmas tree lit up. Interior - childrens party, singing carols Good King Wenceslas. CU one child singing same, to finish.
