MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: First Test Match - England V Australia. 1st & 2nd Days Play. DESCRIPTION: The first Test between England and Australia got underway at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. England were first to bat and had great difficulty scoring off the Australian bowling. The hero of the innings was Surrey’s bowler, Jim Laker, who scored 63. Captain, Don Bradman, led the way in Australia’s innings with a century. SHOTLIST: KS Pan of queues outside ground. GV crowds waiting inside, in fine rain. SCU Wally Hammond. Arrival at ground, Godfrey Evans and Norman Yardley. Sidney Barnes and Morris arrive walk towards camera, Barnes places his hand in front of camera. Brown and Ernest Toshack arrive. Don Bradman arrives. Norman Yardley and Bradman walk onto field for toss up. Toss up, Yardley wins, picks up five shilling piece. CU coin. Aussies take the field. Len Hutton and Cyril Washbrook out to bat. GV of play. Team runs into pavilion owing to rain. GV play. SCU Keith Miller bowls bumper. SCU Miller bowling. Slow motion Miller bowling.
