MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Crisis - Ration and Basic Petrol Cuts. DESCRIPTION: More cuts and restrictions have been announced and they will affect motorists and eating-out in restaurants. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV Oxford Street, shows Underground Station and traffic. Elevated shot of Oxford Circus. Same shot as KS. Trucking shots of motor car showrooms, showing new cars etc. One car with £1,000 label on windscreen, agent takes off label and cuts off one of the naughts, replacing label on windscreen. Various shots of Travel Agencies, shows windows displaying holidays abroad, Switzerland, Sweden etc. SCU butcher takes leg of meat off hook and chops same in half. CU looking over person’s shoulder at newspaper Daily Mail which he is reading. Several individual shots of hotels, Dorchester, Trocadero, Savoy, Oddeninos, Hungaria, etc. Shots of cafes. LAS Corner House sign. MCU Restaurant sign. CU restaurant window. GV High Street tea rooms. MS blackboard chalked with dishes and prices, eg Steak & Chips 2/9d. Pan down window of fish and chip shop. CU 2/3d lunch in glass door. Person enters cafe. Interior - cafe. CU man holding knife and fork. CU plate of food and mix to (dissolve) small plate of food. CU fat man holding knife and fork, dissolve to thin man holding same.
