- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: King Visits the Home Fleet. DESCRIPTION: The Royal Family accompanied by Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten make a two day visit to the Home Fleet which was assembled in the Firth of Clyde. SHOTLIST: KS MS Destroyer Ulster R83 at anchor as seen through a porthole. Aerial shots of the fleet at anchor - very good. GV HMS Howe firing 21 gun salute. Elevated shot Royal Barge (Motor Torpedo Boat) approaching HMS Duke of York. Barge nears Duke of York, Royal Party led by King mount steps. Piped aboard, cut-in of Royal Standard above which flies the Admiralty Flag (anchor on its side). CUs of King, Queen and Princesses come to top of gangway. King shakes hands with Admiral Syfret. King walks over towards naval officer with sword at salute, he precedes the King on inspection. CU Lt Mountbatten talking (silent) to Captain EM Evans-Lombe. Elevated shot King followed by Royal party inspecting naval division aboard Duke of York. Elevated LS of inspection. Aboard destroyer HMS Aisne battle drill, firing 4.5 anti aircraft guns, various shots. LS flame throwers from LCTs, also amphibians off LCT (landing craft) going past same. HMS Tiptoe submarine surfacing. SLIP PAN. Aerial of HMS Illustrious (aircraft carrier). MS Royal Party up on lift of Illustrious to flight deck. King with Syfret walk onto dais on deck. Several shots of marchpast of sailors, also CUs types marching single file into camera. Sailors march out of camera. Royal party leave Illustrious board MTB led by Queen. GV from Illustrious Royal Barge passing through Fleet. Several shots of Royal Barge passing ships, cut-ins of destroyers, dressed overall, sailors line decks. Cut-ins of submarines, all ships dressed overall. Aboard Royal Barge, Royal party on bridge. CU Princess Elizabeth & Lt Mountbatten talking (silent). Lt Mountbatten points out something. SCU cruisers of the Dido class. MS stern on, of Illustrious. Royal Barge passing through lines of ships in choppy seas - very good shots. GV fleet at dusk silhouetted. Elevated shot of naval officer dressed for evening concert. Interior aboard Illustrious arrival of Royal party below decks, Royal party being shown their seats. Concert starts, curtains slide back, GV & MS artists (naval men) doing a ballet. CU types during the dancing, cut-ins of audience laughing and applauding, no cut-ins of King and Queen watching etc.
