- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Sports Flourishing Again. DESCRIPTION: GOLDEN GLOVES - Two contests from the American ‘Golden Gloves’ Boxing Tournament. SKIING - In the French Alps GIs enjoy some recreation. SKI-JUMPING MEET - Some of the world’s best took part in the Ski-Jumping competition at Bear Mountain, New York State. YACHTING - The Sydney to Hobart Race took place in December. SURF THRILLS - Surf Boat Racing at Queensliff, New South Wales, Australia. SHOTLIST: KS GV boxing ring. Various shots of couples boxing for "Golden Gloves". White fellow hits coloured opponent and knocks him out - delayed action, the darkie suddenly realises he’s been hit. This is at Brooklyn Columbus Council Club, New York. In the French Alps, GIs walk past camera. GV mountains etc. Cable-car en route for peak. Skiing down the snowy slopes. At Bear Mountain, New York State, ski-jumping, skiers out and into camera, winner, Arthur Devlin, leaps into camera; the previous one falls before finishing run. At Sydney, Australia, various shots of yachts and one schooner preparing for the Sydney - Hobart Race. Yachts lined up and start. Various excellent shots at sea, show yachts getting in their stride, tossing in the water. CU of some, one incidentally is named "Winston Churchill". Finish on yachts riding the waves. At Queensliff, Australia, surf riders, row their boats out to sea through the heavy breakers. LS of surf-boats, group on cliff watching in foreground. Surf-boats on return to beach, assisted by the breakers, man at tiller has job to control boats, one smashes into another.
