- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Forward to the Rhine. DESCRIPTION: First pictures of the Americans of the Ninth Army moving up to cross the Roer river. On the night of the 23rd February, Bomber Command Lancasters carried out a devastating attack on Pforzheim. Brilliant and accurate marking by Pathfinder Forces led to a very heavy concentrated bombing. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Various shots of infantry, American, & bridging material going towards River Roer, under smoke screen, shot of smoke being released. Infantry advance. Both Canadians & Americans advancing. Elevated shot of German prisoners marched through town of Linnich, with hands on heads. Night raid of Pforzheim, between Karlsruhe & Stuttgart, shots of huge fires burning (very good, please note), Lancasters silhouetted against fires, markers floating down to earth. There are several large explosions (or flares of light).
