- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Middle East Follows Yalta. DESCRIPTION: East meets West aboard an American warship in the Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal. President Roosevelt meets Haile Selassie, King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia and King Farouk of Egypt. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Aboard American warship. Haile Selassie comes aboard, greeted by Roosevelt. MS of the above. American destroyer approaches President’s ship, on Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal. King Ibn Saud transfers from destroyer to President’s ship, pan round deck shows King Ibn Saud’s bodyguard etc. King Farouk comes aboard, US sailors "pipe" him aboard. Farouk greeted by Roosevelt, who introduces King Farouk to his daughter. President Roosevelt takes out cigarette, King Farouk produces lighter, & lights same for him. At the Auberge du Lac Hotel. Cairo, GV of same. Interior shots show Eden & Lord Killearn with the late Dr Ahmed Maher Pasha (Egyptian Prime Minister). On the road (desert road) from Cairo, shot of convoy of cars etc. coming into camera. MS camel’s head, at Lord Killearn’s Shooting Lodge. Guard outside hotel, interior shots shows King Ibn Saud entertaining Mr Churchill, various interiors show them lunching etc., walk out onto balcony, onto grounds. Various shots of King Ibn Saud with Mr Churchill & Mr Eden. CU King Ibn Saud. CU King Ibn Saud & Mr Churchill (in Army uniform) to finish.
