- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Athens (Street Fighting). DESCRIPTION: British troops who fought to liberate Greece now find themselves fighting on the streets of Athens against the ELAS movement. The troops who had been hailed as liberators and who were helping to feed the population had to take up arms again. Mr Churchill, accompanied by Mr Eden, arrived in Athens to see the situation. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Library - Various scenes of welcome the Greeks gave our troops as they enter Athens. Greek crowds waving frantically. Various supplies unloaded at docks of Pireaus, dockers on quays help with unloading. Elevated shot of ships lying in docks. British Paratroops on rooftops fire rifles, machine guns, Brens, etc., ground shots of Paratroops firing mortars. ELAS prisoners brought in, some searched. Sherman tanks move through streets. Street fighting. Library - "Commando" York plane taxies across aerodrome. Churchill dressed in RAF uniform, gets out. MS of Eden. CU Churchill to finish.
