Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Geilenkirchen and Beyond. DESCRIPTION: Anglo-American troops have captured the town of Geilenkirchen. German civilians are being evacuated from the town and nearby villages. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. AFU - Infantry on Churchills across fields. Flail tanks cross fields. Stationary Sherman tanks fire their guns, various shots. Geilenkirchen signpost. British troops (single file) march through streets of town. Various shots of houses (ruins), skeletons of same, interior shot shows "Adolf Hitler" book. Explosions at end of road, US Engineers at work, shot of US troops in main thoroughfare. Various shots of US troops in street fighting, also fighting in open, tanks fire guns, soldiers fire rifles, etc. US troops batter at door. German prisoners come out. CU types. AFU - On wall of house, translated "We will not capitulate". Prisoners led along road, elevated shot of German civilians being evacuated by US troops, loaded onto lorries. Elevated shot of two British soldiers walking through street in pouring rain, umbrella over their heads. Various shots of proclamation stuck on walls by Mil. Govt. British soldier stands on Crocodile with umbrella over his head, pan along road, shows more Crocodiles. British troops march along road, past camera & CU of same passing camera to finish.
