Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Burma - Latest Newsreel Highlights. DESCRIPTION: Lieutenant General Sir Oliver Leese arrived in Colombo on his way to take up command of the Eleventh Army Group. Supplies for the troops in Burma have to be taken up river and then transferred to mules for an arduous 180 mile journey. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. York plane taxies across aerodrome, in Colombo. Colombo sign on control tower. Lt General Sir H Pownall, & Major General Wetherall. CU of same awaiting plane. General Leese out of plane, various shots of him including close-ups; talking to the above. In Lushai Hills, Burma, British troops march through jungle single file. Nepali Porters take cases of food, to boats, load same on. Various shots of journey being made. CU porters, sculling boats, shots of boats being taken over rapids; at destination, porters unload boat, elevated shot, loaded onto mules which take them the last part of the journey.
