- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Passing of the Archbishop. DESCRIPTION: The funeral of Dr William Temple was held in Canterbury Cathedral where only two and a half years before he had been enthroned as Archbishop. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. At Canterbury, Archbishop Temple, lying-in-state, various angle shots. Choir file through Nave, followed by Dr Hewett Johnson (Dean of Canterbury), GV of (R to L) Dr Garbett (Archbishop of York), Dr Johnson, & Lord Lang of Lambeth (former Archbishop of Canterbury). Dr Johnson & Dr Garbett saying prayers. During singing of a hymn, Dr Johnson accepts Dr Temples Pastoral Staff, which he places on the High Altar. Elevated shot of coffin being carried down aisle by eight soldiers, to finish.
