MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Home Guard Stand Down. DESCRIPTION: The Home Guard officially stood down on the 1st of November. Some parades were arranged for the 29th October and then the War Office announced that Farewell Parades were to be held on 3rd December. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Home Guard paraded at Houses of Parliament. Lord Simon inspected same. Home Guard hand in rifles to QMS. At Weybridge, group shot of Home Guard battalion, in which Mr Sanger is present. At Essendon, parade held, handing over flags to Army Cadets, various shots of handing over & slow marching; these are 21st London HG. At Horse Guards Parade, 35th London (Civil Service) Battalion hold parade, Sir John Anderson inspects same, accompanied by Colonel Clifton Brown (Speaker of the House). Various shots of parade, with speech given by Sir John Anderson, afterwards march-past. Chancellor of the Exchequer takes salute. Band was playing during marchpast.
