MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Lebanese President Opens New Road. DESCRIPTION: The Royal Engineers and civilians have constructed a new road to by-pass a section of the coastal route between Tripoli and Beirut. The Lebanese President performed the opening ceremony. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Elevated shot of by-pass, with small amount of Army traffic along same. Road lined with Sikhs MIS. GS of monument. GS of Guard of Honour, also giving general salute. HS Sheikh Beshars el Khoury, escorted by Holmes (9th Army), inspects Guard of Honour, President unveils monument, also cut tape with jack knife. GS of group also includes Sir Edward Spears.
