Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Libya- Success & Shocks. DESCRIPTION: The Battle of Libya has not been going according to plan either for them or for us. The loss of vehicles armoured and otherwise has been serious on both sides, though Rommel seems to have had more reserves that we anticipated. One Allied success was the capture of General Ludwig Gruwell, Rommel’s second in command. SHOTLIST: GV British soldiers walking across Desert. MCU soldiers manoeuvring 25 pounders into position. CU of front of the barrel of a 25 pounder. Several shots of 25 pounders being loaded and fired. LV of German tanks on fire. Several MCUs of German tanks on fire. Several shots of a german tank with turret on the floor burning. General shot of British soldiers digging trenches whilst under fire. British soldiers dive into trench. TS of soldier in trench protecting his dog which is struggling. Panning shot of German & Italian prisoners lining up. Shot of them climbing into truck. General shot of prisoner walking towards truck with his hands in the air. MCU of soldiers searching him. Panning shot of General Ludwig Gruwell coming out of shelter. General shot of him standing, saluting and sitting down etc., and then walking along and getting into car.
