    Conway Hall is owned by Conway Hall Ethical Society and was first opened in 1929. The name was chosen in honour of Moncure Daniel Conway (1832 – 1907), anti-slavery advocate, out-spoken supporter of free thought and biographer of Thomas Paine. The Hall now hosts a wide variety of lectures, classes, performances, community and social events. It is renowned as a hub for free speech and independent thought. The website hosts a small number of videos of the lectures including LONDON THINKS: THE RISE OF UKIP and THE OPPRESSION AND RESILIENCE OF WOMEN.

    EuroStemCell, launched March 2010, unites more than 90 European stem cell and regenerative research medicine laboratories in a coordinated effort to engage with the public about the research science.The organisation is in a partnership with scientists, clinicians, ethicists, social scientists and science communicators and also works closely with teachers and patient representatives. The site includes stem cell research news, guest blogs and newsletters, blogs and commentary on research findings. A small number of films on stem cell research are streamed on the site and available for sale on DVD. EuroStemCell is funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).

    This site offers free access to thousands of historical documents relating to the period of Thatcher’s premiership. The multimedia section includes video and audio items, including material from the House of Commons and Presidential Libraries. Featured videos include Thatcher’s speech in the confidence debate the day she announced her resignation on 22nd November 1990. Also included is a generous selection of digitised material from the collection of Harvey Thomas, who organised many of Thatcher’s speeches and rallies. This collection includes the only surviving complete copies of Thatcher’s Party Conference speeches. The records accompanying the videos include editorial comments, transcripts, venue and date and are ranked according to importance.

    The goal of this website is to explain how environmental scientists work and why the work they do is important. The site is run by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the UK public body that supports and funds the natural and environmental sciences, via major environmental research centres: the British Antarctic Survey, the British Geological Survey, the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, the National Centre for Atmospheric Science, the National Centre for Earth Observation and the National Oceanography Centre. As well as News and Features sections there is a Podcasts and Video page, where various aspects of the work done by the above bodies are discussed.

    A website with useful practical information for anyone wanting to know about film, filmmaking and how to make short videos. The site is the creation of film educator Tom Barrance and features a guide to film language and grammar called How Films Work, followed by a brief, step-by-step practical guide to the process itself, called Making a Film. There is also a blog and information about a range of courses and training days which Barrance runs, as well as interactive resources on filmmaking which are available as DVD-ROMs or Apps for the iPad.

    This free online resources specialises in the sciences and medical humanities and produces a range of podcasts aimed at both a general and specialised audience. The site hosts the following weekly podcasts: Math/Maths - a weekly conversation between a British and an American mathematician - Strange Quarks, which looks at science and politics as well as the stranger fringes of pseudoscience, and the Pulse Project, which is a round-up of the latest science news.
