- Milos Forman’s debut film launched what became known internationally as the Czech New Wave. Although made as two separate ‘featurettes’, the style and themes were very similar and they were released as one film. A group of semi-professional musicians prepare for the annual brass band championships in Kolin; a group of aspiring singers of widely ranging abilities, enthusiastically audition with pop-type numbers.
