Synopsis
Japanese art offers a wide range of different styles and expressions, which changed constantly during the last thousands years. Despite of many influences and developments the aesthetic principles remained unaffected. From the ink painting of --Sesshu to the silk painting of Higashiyama, this DVD combines five masterworks:
-Toyo Sesshu (1420-1506): Autumn and Winter Landscapes, 1496.
-Hasegawa Tohaku (1539-1610): Pine Trees and Autumn Grasses, 16th century.
-Tawaraya Sotatsu (ca. 1595-1644): Bugaku Dance Screen, 17th century.
-Ogata Korin (1658-1716): Red and White Plum Blossoms, 18th century.
-Kaii Higashiyama (1908-1999): The Path, 1950.
