- Synopsis
- Five people talk frankly about their attitude towards money and debt. The objective of the DVD is to open discussion. It has not been designed to provide technical guidance or solutions but to build an awareness of the dangers of debt and to help "achieve economic well-being." Developed as a series of interviews, the DVD can be used to support presentations or group discussions that cover a wide audience range from 11 to 18+.
Contents; The first four interviews are designed to illustrate the different attitudes young people have towards money and to illustrate the importance of avoiding debt.The final interview looks at Brian who is facing bankruptcy.
Key issues discussed in the interviews are: Peter, age 11 - First Bank Account, Pocket Money, Stealing (4 minutes); Melanie, age 15 - Part time work, Bullying, Alcohol (2 minutes 30 seconds); Steven, age 18 - University, Student loan & debts, Future employment (3 minutes 45 seconds); Jenny, age 18 - Part time work, credit and store cards, owning a car, running own home (3 minutes 30 seconds); Brian, age 34 - Facing Bankruptcy (8 minutes 30 seconds).
Each of the interviews concludes with key questions that can be put to the group. The pack also includes a CD with support material created in Word format so it can be customised The support items include full transcripts, ideas of exercises, additional facts, contact web sites etc. - Language
