Insight in Mind: Poetic and Vivid Perspectives of Mania and Depression

Synopsis
There are many resources about mental distress, but very few to help those unaffected by it to visualise and empathise with these experiences. This video provides poetic and vivid perspectives of mania and depression. Through performance, documentary and art, it conveys the altered perceptions at the core of manic depression and provides a subtle exploration of the moods commonly experienced and the possible effects of medications.

It aims to help those who provide care or support for people with mental health problems to understand what it’s like. The video can be used in training and to encourage discussion with carers and clients and to help focus on the emotional and practical needs of individuals in distress.
