Goodbye Janet, Goodbye John
- Synopsis
- Looks at Reading Recovery, New Zealander Dame Marie Clay’s pioneering scheme which was introduced into selected British schools in 1992, as the government tried to address growing public concern about declining standards of reading. The scheme is an intensive learning programme focusing on the fundamentals of reading, writing and spelling, with children receiving individual coaching each day from a specially trained teacher. Dame Marie Clay also talks about why British schools are failing.
