Electric Response Audiometry

Synopsis
Electric response audiometry is a specialised hearing test normally carried out in hospitals within the ENT department. Illustrates the problems of testing hearing in infants. Covers background physiology, followed by the techniques of recording the electrocochleogram, the brain stem electric response, the post auricular myogenic response and the slow vertex response. Details of electrode application showing good technique for areas with or wihout hair are included. The need to use bipolar recording, filtering and averaging is presented, illustrated by the slow vertex response. Finally considers the applications.
