Early Literacy Education with Parents: A Framework for Practice
- Synopsis
- Shows how children can learn about literacy from their families, and how schools and nursery centres can work with parents to promote children’s early literacy development. Work on different strands of literacy - environmental print, books, early writing and key aspects of oral language - is illustrated. The parents’ role is emphasised and a framework for planning work with parents is presented and explained. Filmed in home, neighbourhood, school and library settings, the video links current research with good practice in order to demonstrate effective ways of promoting children’s literacy through work with families.
