Synopsis
Volume 6: ‘Overunning Germany’: Allies succeeded in dividing the German armies and capturing 350,000 German troops and the battle for Berlin had begun. General Jodl signed the surrender documentation 7 May 1945. ‘Victory’s Aftermath’: As people all over the free world celebrated the fall of Hitler, on 6 August 1945 the ‘Enola Gay’ dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Shortly after Roosevelt died. ‘Russia’: By the end of the war the Allies has learned of the power of the Russian army. The West was forced by Stalin to agree the carve-up of Europe. ‘Review’: the war had cost 30 million lives over six years.
