- Synopsis
- Illustrates the growth of British industry and prosperity since 1931 seen through the eyes of a returning traveller. There are scenes first of London streets and monuments, Dolphin Square, Hammersmith tube station and the Victoria Embankment after which the traveller goes on a tour of industrial England by coach on the new arterial road system. He visits the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Blackpool (seen as a flourishing resort), Nottingham, Leicester, East Anglia. On the way he looks at motor works, spinning & knitting industries and steel plants. The commentary stresses the importance of building up Britain’s air force when scenes of an aircraft factory in East Anglia are shown.
