Synopsis

Looks at the development of services for children and young people with learning disabilities. In two parts: 1) shows how these services were affected by state legislation and progress within voluntary bodies during the period 1960-80; 2) demonstrates the three main care options currently open to parents of a child with learning disabilities and shows how the statutory and voluntary agencies and health and personal social services settings are providing imaginative residential, fostering and community resource services.
