Waterloo International Terminal

Synopsis
Nicholas Grimshaw’s International Terminal at Waterloo more closely resembles an airport than a station Its magnificient trainshed, a swooping curve of steel and glass, is in the great tradition of British railway architecture. This is a fitting terminal for the Channel Tunnel, the century’s biggest engineering project. John Winter walks through the building and discusses it with Nicholas Grimshaw and the structural engineer, Anthony Hunt.
