Synopsis
Shows the traditional processes of silk weaving in Isarn in north-east Thailand, which has been a cradle of silkworm rearing for thousands of years. Silk sarongs and scarves of extraordinary quality with traditional designs and colours are handwoven in weft ikat aand supplementary weft techniques. Contents include: rearing of silkworms; reeling silk; tying and dyeing for weft ikat; weaving; use of pattern heddles for supplementary weft. Filmed entirely in Thailand.
