NoS Summary - craft of tied dyeing is explained - woman makes a silk wrap
British Pathe synopsis: "Here’s a fascinating and economical art for Eve - Tied Dyeing they call it - just mix your dye - " M/S of woman standing at a table with all the bits and pieces needed for this craft. She empties out powdered dye into a bowl. She then adds boiling water. "In our case we are going to make a simple, but attractive wrap - Take a piece of material (we choose silk, 36 inches square)" Woman holds up the piece of silk, folds it up leaving a point in the middle. "After the material has been folded, tie tightly with soft string..." C/U of woman tying string and then cutting the ends. She binds the fabric in various places. "This is how it looks when "tied" M/S of the woman holding up the tied fabric. "Now dip into the dye for a few seconds..." She drops it into the dye and prods it with a stick. She then lifts it out again, dries it a little by patting it with another piece of fabric, then holds it up for the camera. "Untie..." The strings are untied and she presents her creation to the camera. "And the first square is done..." C/U of the silk. "Three squares such as this, plus four yards of plain silver galon, made this wrap." L/S of the wrap. C/U of the bottom of the wrap.
