Biology of Spiders. No. 10: Capture of Prey and Mating: ‘Theridion Saxatile’
- Synopsis
- 'Theridion saxatile’ lives in a shelter above a super-structure which supports numerous lines running down to the ground. The vertical lines are only sticky where they touch the ground and the snare is designed to catch ground dwelling insects. The capture of a wood ant ‘Formica rufa’, which is as large as the spider, is shown in detail.
